SHA-256 hash checker

Hash text or a file with SHA-256 and compare it with an expected value, without the file leaving your machine.

How it works

Hashing uses your browser's built-in Web Crypto API. Files are read locally; nothing is uploaded.

Files up to 200 MB are supported, because the whole file has to fit in memory to be hashed this way. For larger files, use sha256sum on Linux or Get-FileHash on Windows.

Text is hashed as UTF-8 exactly as typed, including any trailing spaces or line breaks.
